The end of an era

So in about an hour and a half, I'll take my last final at BYU until after my mission! Exciting! Bittersweet. This week has had a lot of ups and downs already. It's never easy saying goodbye, but it's harder knowing I won't just come back in September and see everyone again. Today was my last day on the job at Heritage Halls. Thursday will be my last day on the job at BYUB. Tiff and James both leave tomorrow, and Hilary and Courtney both left today. Alex left yesterday, so...after tomorrow I need to find people to play with that I don't normally play with. Oh well. On Sunday, I went over to Courtney's and Hilary's place, and we had a last hurrah before Steph left for home on Monday. She goes to Jerusalem next week! Saturday evening, I went to Salt Lake and met up with Emma Koller there, one of my good friends that I met at EFY when I was 14, and haven't seen her since...4 or 5 years ago! So it was awesome to see her and meet her boyfriend!

3 down, 1 to go!

Almost done finals! And it's only the second day! Fortunately, I've been able to have a little fun mixed in with the hard work of studying (and by hard work...it REALLY is...I've been so exhausted!) So Wednesday we celebrated Tiff's birthday, and make cookies and cake. :) We actually didn't eat the cake until last night...but here's what it looked like! Pretty much...Tiff is amazing. We should make cakes for a living. Between the two of us, we could do anything! So that was Wednesday. Thursday I studied all stinking day. For real. Geography, geology, and Doctrine and Covenants. I don't even think I did anything else that day, really. Friday was not too much more exciting. WAIT! There was some excitement for Thursday! Okay, so in my geology review, our TA told us about a house that had a boulder go through it, so James and Tim and I went to see it...Jon (the TA) had told us in class where it was, and even showed us on google earth ("s

Happy birthday Tiff Tiff!

So there's no more classes. Only finals left. I'm keeping busy doing things, whether school-related or not, but it's still weird. Last night I was sitting here putting together some videos and such that Tiff and I have done all year, and it finally hit me that...I'm done class for two years here. It's a weird feeling, and I don't know how to describe it really...bittersweet isn't quite the word. Because I'm leaving so soon, I've been feeling a bit melancholy lately...it's so weird. And it's hard when people keep telling me to come back in the fall. I don't know...I've had a LOT on my mind lately, and I still feel like I'm doing the right thing. So I've been trying to keep busy and not think too much about it... I've tied up a lot of loose ends, both with people and with projects, in the past couple days. But on to happier stuff. Today we are celebrating Tiff's birthday! We're making a duckie cake, and d

Every party has a pooper and Karen is number 1!

I haven't written in here in a while, wow. Or just a few days, but you know. :) Not too many big adventures have happened, and life is just moving forward with the end of school drawing near. This past week, I accomplished a lot. I did all but two things on my page-long to-do list, as well as other things I thought of and didn't write down. And yesterday was productive as well, more than I thought it would be. Well let's see. I finally declared my major as geology on Tuesday. That was great! Now I'm officially a geology major, and I can get right into that when I get back from my mission. I went to the Temple with Tiff and Spencer on Wednesday evening. Spencer did a session while Tiff and I went to the baptistry. We ended before he did, so we sat in the guest waiting room for a while, just enjoying the peace of the Temple, and not rushing back into the "I have to get this done" mode of the end of the semester. It was a really nice and much-needed

Bulldozing a Bulldozer...not something you do every day!

So on Sunday, Ry Ry and I made a cake: And then we took some pictures of it while it still looked good, then we bulldozed it. Literally. It was SO MUCH FUN. I wish I had known about much fun it is when I'd been a kid, or I woulda destroyed more cakes! Yeah. Basically it was great! :) On another note, conference was awesome! On Sunday, James and some other people came over... I might've already written that. James made a cake in the shape of a bus. I had a wonderful weekend! Today in my dance class, we had a different teacher, because Celeste is in California for something or other. He was pretty funny, and a good teacher. But I was off and couldn't get any of the steps down. It was kinda sad. I just kept messing up. Oh well. Oh and today is my last geology lab! Exciting! But weird! And it's also Red Sox opening day, because yesterday it was rained out. WOOHOO GO SOX! We're playing the Devil Rays. Too bad I can't watch the game. Oh well, I can watch r

Sometimes I wonder where people went after the last time I saw them...especially when it's been 15 years

So management fixed our water. Silly maintenance simply forgot to turn it back on. But it was inconvenient. But hey, at least we have it back. It's been a great weekend! General Conference is always so uplifting and amazing, and inspiring, in that I want to be a better person, and here's how! Yesterday morning I went over to the Wilk to have breakfast with my ward before the first session, and then we watched that session in the varsity theater. That was sweet! The rest of my day was uneventful...it's actually been a really relaxing weekend as well! Both sessions were great yesterday, and I got a couple hours of organ and piano practice in last night, which was awesome! And then Tiff and I went to the store with Ry Ry to pick up some stuff for a cake he and I are making tonight. Then we watched a movie. Today, I woke up earlier, but didn't get out of bed until right before conference started. James came over for that. It's always cool to have people ov

Um, for real, Management?!

Ugh and today sure was eventful. Though not all in the good way. But good things did happen, too. So let's start with our apartment management. Or just all the problems Regency 101 has had to deal with for two entire semesters. First off, we got jipped on windows (our apartment is half under ground level, so our windows are only half as big as normal ones). Second, our apartment is crappy and dirty and always has been, and we can't fix it. Third, our water is always SO HOT that you have to jump in and out of a shower within like 5 seconds if you don't want to get scalded. And brushing your teeth with hot water? Yeah, that's painful. But we deal with it. Fourth, our couch is broken. They "fixed" it back in September when we complained, but not really. And the list goes on...but hey, at least we have a nice fridge! So today, we were all excited because maintenance came over to fix our water! Woohoo! I should known it was too good to be true, wh

The constant bother

So I just checked my BYUB work schedule...and unfortunately, lately, they've scheduled me at times when I've already made plans with friends. Okay, some explanation is needed here (and I just need to rant about this...) So last year, the shoots were posted online, and we just signed up for them when we could work them, and signed up for the positions we wanted. That was great, because then I could make plans and still get plenty of work hours in. I liked it that way; we all did. This year, however, they decided to change it. Now, they sign us up for a shoot (but usually it's not even my boss...it's one of the schedulers), and if we can't work it, we have to let them know. It's really messed with my social life this entire year, because I'll make plans, and then have to cancel them for work, because we never know more than about a week and a half in advance when we are scheduled! Sure, I don't always plan that far ahead, but for things like Ballr

Spinning and Spinning until too dizzy to NOT spin!

Life is wonderful! I'm in love! With country dancing....hahahahaha. But for real. Last night, I went to swing club, and ended up dancing with a guy in my math class (random...but brings a whole new perspective to math class now!). He was really good, and we danced a lot, and I decided the best workout is just to go country/swing dancing. I am trying to find someone to go with tonight, down at the Center. I think I'm realizing that I'm leaving in 3 1/2 weeks, and I definitely shoulda gone dancing long before now, seeing as I won't really have the chance back home! Sad day. So now I'm just going to go every chance I get. Next week, though, we have a country dance lab, so I won't get to go to swing club. But that'll be fine, because it'll be awesome nonetheless. Maybe I'll get to go to both! As for school...this week has actually been pretty relaxing. My math test last weekend was the last test I had to take before finals. I've got a
