Oh! Happy day!

Since I received my mission call on Friday evening, I have had a little while to process it. I'm going to BRAZIL!!!!! I'm going to learn PORTUGUESE! It still hardly seems real that after this much time preparing for a mission, I finally know where I will be going, when I will be going, and what language I'll be speaking. It's a dream come true! I wouldn't have guessed Brazil if I were to venture a guess, despite the fact that 10% of all missionaries go there! And I'll be in the Sao Paulo East Mission...so cool! Sao Paulo is one of the largest cities in the world, and was founded in the 1500s. There's so much history there! This is going to be one of the best experiences of my life. Even though I'll be thousands of miles away from home in a place where I don't currently speak the language, I'm not nervous. Just excited. Granted, that may change as I'm on the plane to a foreign land, but for now, I'm content to be just excited.

Oh Happy Day!

So today I got and opened my mission call! I'm going to the Brazil Sao Paulo East Mission. I'll be speaking Portuguese. I report to the Brazil MTC on Wednesday, March 3, 2010. SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shades of Gray

Sometimes you think you've seen and heard it all. You look back on your life and think, "wow, I've been through everything." And you realize that you've been friendless, lost people close to you to the dreaded cancer, pretty much failed a class, missed work entirely, didn't know how you were going to pay your bills, been rejected by people you liked, felt lost and aimless, been rejected twice from the dream you've been dreaming, had the car die on you more times than you can count, and the list goes on. On the other hand, you've got amazing friends, the gospel in life, a positive and optimistic outlook, had the opportunity to be an EFY counselor, have an amazing family, travelled a ton, finally found what you want to do with your education, and the list goes on longer than the first. And then you think, again, "wow, I really HAVE been through everything!" And you think you know how to deal with anything that might come your way, because

10 Things I hate about Hannaford

Today was one of those days. I've had this list growing in my head for a while too, and today I just want to write it all down, cuz the first part of work, until I got back from my break, pretty much sucked. Stupid people. So in no specific order... 1. Frozen pizzas. I don't like eating them, and I hate them even worse at the register, because their barcodes are dumb and they don't fit in bags. 2. paper in plastic. Seriously, what's the point?! 3. customers who bag for themselves on express. THERE IS NO ROOM ANYWAY, and yet they're making less. This also includes the people who rearrange as you bag for them. yuck. if you want it a specific way, just tell us! 4. people who smell bad. nuff said. 5. old guys who wink at me. and hit on me. sick. 6. when dillon is not my bagger. hahahah. 7. when someone asks "where's corn flake crumbs?" like anyone could even know that. what are those even used for?! just get the crumbs from the bottom o
