Have You Ever Eaten Bananas Fresh Off the Tree?

Querida família minha, Estou aqui....pensando em Português...normal....pois é. Hey, so I don't actually have a ton to write. Ana flávia was confirmed yesterday (WOOOHOOOOO!!!!!), and we taught a bunch of lessons and all...it's chill. I had a division this week which was really good. I learned that when people trust me and have confidence in me, I have a lot more in myself too. also, I got into an argument with a couple women from the Assembleia de Deus. That was entertaining, up to a point. anyway, the division was good. We ate pizza in the end. :) Transfers are coming up, and I'm anxious. I want to stay here in Vista Verde...this area has so much potential. I want to stay here, but I'm also ready for a change. so...I'm just trusting in the Lord because he truly knows what is best. I'm at the point where I'm just looking for things to learn from the hard situations, because there's nothing I can do about them. But it's a part of the mission...hah

Sometimes I Find Empty Cups in the Fridge

Hey everyone. So my week was normal. Walking in the sun on the dirt roads through cow pastures and teaching sometimes too. This week....okay, so it was insane, and I'm wicked tired and don't have time to catch up on sleep (no pday this week), but somehow I'm still alive, though it's a struggle. Sheesh. We were teaching Ania, who we met last weekend, every night at 9:30, getting home around 11 or 11:30. Yes, we had permission. But she lives kinda far from our house (at least, it seems ridiculously far at 11pm). We taught her at this hour because that's when she gets home from work. but in the end...she was baptized yesterday! WoohOOOOOOO!!!! Second...our Zone Leaderss came to our area a couple times. once, to teach Brendon with us, and the second time to interview Ania saturday night at 10pm. Hah. It was a party. Anyway, I decided it's a really good thing to have friends in the mish. Third...I have a family here. Literally, I call this irmã minha mãe. And sh

I Think I have a Complex of Some Sort

Hello North America! So this week was insane. I'm learning there's really no such thing as "normal" on the mish. It was a mixture of laughing my head off and crying to the Lord for His help in this work. This area....nossa, carumba....precisamos BATISMOS!!!!!!! We had one baptism scheduled for Sunday, and Brendon (who the Elders taught before we got here, and he had an interview and all, just never was baptized) had an interview with our District Leader on Saturday, passed, and was excited for his baptism on Sunday. Well, Sunday morning, we walked the 30 minutes to his house (including mountain climbing through a cow pasture), then stood at his gate and yelled and clapped and made his dogs bark, but still he didn't wake up. WE stayed there half an hour, but then eventually had to leave and get other investigators. In the end, NO ONE (again....4th week in a row for me) was at church! I'm trying not to let it get to me, but if you served a mission, you know tha

I Successfully Avoided Eating Pig Feet this Week!

Hello out there in the land of...well, not missionary life! First of all, this email will be random...well, I guess they all are. But hey. Maybe more random than usual. Our week was like that. Still we've got really no investigators, but this week we are going to work even harder. As of now, I've been at church 3 weeks in a row without new investigators. But we are still working hard. I learned a few things this week, as I tried hard to be a perfectionist and got bummed when I fell short. I learned that it isn't about perfection on the mish; it's about honestly doing my best and the Lord will fill in the gaps. And that knowledge has made me a lot happier and less stressed as I just try to do my part and not worry so much about being burned by our leaders at district meetings. We have really good leaders too, which helps. Also, I told you our area is huge, right? Well, it's so huge that we walked to Argentina this week. For real. Hah! There's a section of the

This Morning When I Brushed my Teeth, the Tiolet Coughed

Hello out there! So first you're probably all dying to know what happened with transfers...if you even remember that transfers were last week. So I may as well tell you, or the rest of this email will make no sense whatsoever. So Monday night, we were teaching Talita, our investigator who is a reference of Mauro, and a lawyer. She rocks. She will be baptized, I think. Anyway, after we wrapped up there, we were just leaving her office, when the call came from our LD. Anyway...Sister Frame was to stay in Vila Industrial for a fourth transfer, and I was being shipped off to the middle of nowhere, to a place called Vista Verde, with Sister Sodré as my comp. We would be opening the area. FREAK. Anyway, then I found out that Elder Lopes, our friend who was in the office, is in my zone. And my good friend Elder Nóbrega is my Zone Leader! So, that's how it went down. Tuesday was transfers. After running around Monday night trying to visit and say goodbye to a ton of people, Tuesday
