What do Mother Teresa and Martina McBride have in common?

Words of wisdom.  This is gonna be a long post, because of quoting a couple things...

 Mother Teresa of Calcutta said:
"People are often unreasonable and self-centered.  Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives.  Be kind anyway.
If you are honest, people may cheat you.  Be honest anyway.
If you find happiness, people may be jealous.  Be happy anyway.
The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow.  Do good.
Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough.  Give your best anyway.
For you see, in the end, it is between you and God.  It was never between you and them anyway."

 Martina McBride sang:
"You can spend your whole life buildin'
Something from nothin
One storm can come and blow it all away 
Build it anyway

You can chase a dream 
That seems so out of reach
And you know it might not ever come your way

God is great but sometimes life aint good

Another thing I was thinking about tonight.  All this.  Be yourself and don't be afraid of what people are going to say or think.  Care more about what God thinks of you, and become the person He wants you to be.  Be kind.  People will mock you or say you are up to something, or you are looking for recognition or want something or are using others to get at something else....but just keep being kind.  Keep serving selflessly.  Keep loving, even if others don't believe you. 

Renato and I were talking today about something, and he made the comment "it's interesting when people think they are greater than God."  In other words...if you get an answer to a prayer, and others may see you as ridiculous for doing what you're doing...do it anyway!!!  You are following God's will for you and your life, and you can count on Him 100%.  He will not give up on you, and though the way may seem dark and you can't see very far ahead, keep trusting Him and His answers.  If others try to discourage you, keep going back to the answer that came from the Lord, because that's what's surely going to guide you through life.  

So live, love, laugh, dream, forgive, sing, dance, be honest, be kind...anyway!

Sometimes you think you've seen and heard it all. You look back on your life and think, "wow, I've been through everything." And you realize that you've been friendless, lost people close to you to the dreaded cancer, pretty much failed a class, missed work entirely, didn't know how you were going to pay your bills, been rejected by people you liked, felt lost and aimless, been rejected twice from the dream you've been dreaming, had the car die on you more times than you can count, and the list goes on. Oh Happy Day!

So today I got and opened my mission call! I'm going to the Brazil Sao Paulo East Mission. I'll be speaking Portuguese. I report to the Brazil MTC on Wednesday, March 3, 2010. SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hamlet

One of my favorite scenes from Hamlet (which is probably my favorite of Shakespeare's plays) is right after Polonius is murdered. I love the literal yet sarcastic reply Hamlet gives to King Claudius at his inquiry to the location of Polonius. KING CLAUDIUS Now, Hamlet, where's Polonius? HAMLET At supper. KING CLAUDIUS At supper! where? HAMLET Not where he eats, but where he is eaten: a certain convocation of politic worms are e'en at him. Your worm is your only emperor for diet: we fat all creatures else to fat us, and we fat ourselves for maggots: your fat king and your lean beggar is but variable service, two dishes, but to one table: that's the end.
