Happy birthday Tiff Tiff!

So there's no more classes. Only finals left. I'm keeping busy doing things, whether school-related or not, but it's still weird. Last night I was sitting here putting together some videos and such that Tiff and I have done all year, and it finally hit me that...I'm done class for two years here. It's a weird feeling, and I don't know how to describe it really...bittersweet isn't quite the word. Because I'm leaving so soon, I've been feeling a bit melancholy lately...it's so weird. And it's hard when people keep telling me to come back in the fall. I don't know...I've had a LOT on my mind lately, and I still feel like I'm doing the right thing. So I've been trying to keep busy and not think too much about it... I've tied up a lot of loose ends, both with people and with projects, in the past couple days.

But on to happier stuff. Today we are celebrating Tiff's birthday! We're making a duckie cake, and duckie cookies, and having a small fiesta this afternoon. The day started off with a bang though... last night, Rachelle and I went to Smartcookie, just across the street, and on our way back, while it was POURING, and some guys were just getting to their house, which is next door to our apartment. They told us to come join them and dance with them in the rain, no umbrellas! I told them I would, but I was going to go home and change first. Rachelle had a test to take online, so she didn't come. But I did return a few minutes later, and they were in shock, because they'd been taking bets on whether or not I'd really come back. That was at about 10:30. We kept trying to get people walking and driving by to come dance with us, but they wouldn't. Some people did come, and our group got to be a decent size for a while. Tiff came home from grocery shopping and drove by us, so then she came and joined us too. It was awesome, dancing in the rain, and just being goofy with people I'd never met before this! We danced until just after midnight, when we began celebrating Tiff's birthday, and this other girl, Lauren, who was there as well.

If you go on youtube, search for "epic soccer", and click on the third one down, it's a funny video. :) OOH! And this morning, I read "Make Way for Ducklings" to Tiff and James. It was great, and now I can't wait to read all my other Robert McClusky books back home!

Okay, I'll be sure to post pictures from today's events later. But for now...

10 Things I love about Hannaford

So originally I was going to do this in sarcasm...but then decided that I could actually come up with 10 things (in no specific order) I like about my job. Even though being a cashier at a grocery store is not ideal, it's a job, and...well, you'll see. 1. Going on break with my dad sometimes. Because, you know, we work in the same store. It's pretty cool. 2. I love the people I work with soooooo much! Mainly the ones during the day, because I don't know any of the high school kids that work evenings, because I rarely work evenings. 3. Being the "party animal". nuff said. 4. Watching a cashier ID someone for alcohol, and him telling us that he doesn't even have a photo ID since his license was taken away for DWI. Yeah, maybe he should rethink his purchase... 5. Now when I hear the name of a vegetable, I automatically think of its PLU. Dates: 3047. Cabbage: 4069. Bananas: 4011. Tree Ripe Peaches: 4044. Eastern Peaches: 4403. Nectarines: 4378....

To be or not to be...

...in this case, it is not the question but rather the answer. Today in Church a talk was given that brought up something important to me.  I am a "list person".  I have so many lists, because that is how I stay organized.  The most frequent list I make is a to-do list, generally before I go to bed for the next day (yes, I still have nightly planning sessions, hahahaha, picked that up from the mission!).  But in this talk, the speaker talked about how we like to-do lists because we can check things off as we finish.  But have we ever thought about a "To be" list?  So that got me thinking.  And tonight for my scripture study, I was pondering over this and decided that I also needed to make a "Not to be" list.  And these are lists that will stay with me for life, as I will never be perfect and will always be working on becoming more like Christ.  Because that is the ultimate goal of a "to be" list.  So here is the result of my study: T...

"What do you want for Christmas?"

This question is asked countless times during this Christmas season, and is one that has recently been asked of me a few times.  Since my birthday was recent, I heard a few times "what do you want for your birthday?" too.  And it has left me thoughtful... Here, I could talk about how we need to forget the materialism of Christmas and focus on the real meaning, how it isn't about getting but it's about giving, about how we need to love each other more...basically, I could give you any kind of canned, stereotypical answer in response to this subject, but these are not the thoughts I've had! My thoughts have been simple, and I always give the same answer: "I don't want anything".  And then people would push me into saying something, but I literally couldn't (and still can't) come up with anything I need, or even want.  What does that mean?  Life is great. :)  It means that I am satisfied with my life right now...yeah, I've still got questi...
