Silent date

Who knew you could go on a date with someone then split up once there, and really only be together for the ride there and back?  Well, and then Taco Bell.  Anyway, you'd think it would be a lame date, but it was actually pretty awesome.  Who knew folding laundry for 4 hours could be so enjoyable and time would fly by?  Well, now I know!  And I know that service is a good kind of date, too!  Today was a pretty awesome day, but because of unexpected delays, now I have a ton of schoolwork to do tonight, but I'm taking a test tomorrow, so then I'll have a little less to worry about the rest of the week, though still far too much.  But it's okay, service brings blessings, so maybe this time I'll be blessed in finishing everything I need to!  So I'm going to go help God help me, and get off of here and write an essay that I'm about half done writing.

Shades of Gray

Sometimes you think you've seen and heard it all. You look back on your life and think, "wow, I've been through everything." And you realize that you've been friendless, lost people close to you to the dreaded cancer, pretty much failed a class, missed work entirely, didn't know how you were going to pay your bills, been rejected by people you liked, felt lost and aimless, been rejected twice from the dream you've been dreaming, had the car die on you more times than you can count, and the list goes on. On the other hand, you've got amazing friends, the gospel in life, a positive and optimistic outlook, had the opportunity to be an EFY counselor, have an amazing family, travelled a ton, finally found what you want to do with your education, and the list goes on longer than the first. And then you think, again, "wow, I really HAVE been through everything!" And you think you know how to deal with anything that might come your way, because ...

Hamlet

One of my favorite scenes from Hamlet (which is probably my favorite of Shakespeare's plays) is right after Polonius is murdered. I love the literal yet sarcastic reply Hamlet gives to King Claudius at his inquiry to the location of Polonius. KING CLAUDIUS Now, Hamlet, where's Polonius? HAMLET At supper. KING CLAUDIUS At supper! where? HAMLET Not where he eats, but where he is eaten: a certain convocation of politic worms are e'en at him. Your worm is your only emperor for diet: we fat all creatures else to fat us, and we fat ourselves for maggots: your fat king and your lean beggar is but variable service, two dishes, but to one table: that's the end. KING CLAUDIUS Alas, alas! HAMLET A man may fish with the worm that hath eat of a king, and cat of the fish that hath fed of that worm. KING CLAUDIUS What dost you mean by this? HAMLET Nothing but to show you how a king may go a progress through the guts of a beggar.
