Bulldozing a Bulldozer...not something you do every day!

So on Sunday, Ry Ry and I made a cake:

And then we took some pictures of it while it still looked good, then we bulldozed it. Literally. It was SO MUCH FUN. I wish I had known about much fun it is when I'd been a kid, or I woulda destroyed more cakes!

Yeah. Basically it was great! :)

On another note, conference was awesome! On Sunday, James and some other people came over... I might've already written that. James made a cake in the shape of a bus. I had a wonderful weekend!

Today in my dance class, we had a different teacher, because Celeste is in California for something or other. He was pretty funny, and a good teacher. But I was off and couldn't get any of the steps down. It was kinda sad. I just kept messing up. Oh well. Oh and today is my last geology lab! Exciting! But weird! And it's also Red Sox opening day, because yesterday it was rained out. WOOHOO GO SOX! We're playing the Devil Rays. Too bad I can't watch the game. Oh well, I can watch recaps later.

Well, gotta go finish a couple problems in my math homework. I mainly just wanted to post the pictures!

  1. I love the photos! They are great!

When you were little, we did the same thing all parents do on their kids first birthday. We put your cake in front of you to do what you will. You got your hands into the cake, looked at your messy fingers, and promptly started to cry and would not stop till we washed your hands and gave you a slice of cake on a plate with a fork. Times sure have changed!

Shades of Gray

Sometimes you think you've seen and heard it all. You look back on your life and think, "wow, I've been through everything." And you realize that you've been friendless, lost people close to you to the dreaded cancer, pretty much failed a class, missed work entirely, didn't know how you were going to pay your bills, been rejected by people you liked, felt lost and aimless, been rejected twice from the dream you've been dreaming, had the car die on you more times than you can count, and the list goes on. On the other hand, you've got amazing friends, the gospel in life, a positive and optimistic outlook, had the opportunity to be an EFY counselor, have an amazing family, travelled a ton, finally found what you want to do with your education, and the list goes on longer than the first. And then you think, again, "wow, I really HAVE been through everything!" And you think you know how to deal with anything that might come your way, because ...

Oh Happy Day!

So today I got and opened my mission call! I'm going to the Brazil Sao Paulo East Mission. I'll be speaking Portuguese. I report to the Brazil MTC on Wednesday, March 3, 2010. SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hamlet

One of my favorite scenes from Hamlet (which is probably my favorite of Shakespeare's plays) is right after Polonius is murdered. I love the literal yet sarcastic reply Hamlet gives to King Claudius at his inquiry to the location of Polonius. KING CLAUDIUS Now, Hamlet, where's Polonius? HAMLET At supper. KING CLAUDIUS At supper! where? HAMLET Not where he eats, but where he is eaten: a certain convocation of politic worms are e'en at him. Your worm is your only emperor for diet: we fat all creatures else to fat us, and we fat ourselves for maggots: your fat king and your lean beggar is but variable service, two dishes, but to one table: that's the end. KING CLAUDIUS Alas, alas! HAMLET A man may fish with the worm that hath eat of a king, and cat of the fish that hath fed of that worm. KING CLAUDIUS What dost you mean by this? HAMLET Nothing but to show you how a king may go a progress through the guts of a beggar.
